Amber Espinal has a clear vision for her future: becoming a dentist. Her journey begins at CCBC, where she's pursuing a degree in dental hygiene. While dental school presents a significant financial hurdle, Espinal sees her time at CCBC as a strategic first step, both academically and financially.

The Dental Hygiene program at CCBC equips Espinal with valuable skills and prepares her for a well-paying career in the dental field. This income can then help her finance further education towards her ultimate goal of becoming a dentist. Importantly, thanks to College Promise scholarships, Espinal's time at CCBC is tuition-free.

"The Maryland Community College Promise scholarship helped bridge the financial gap in my education," says Espinal. "It allowed me to continue my academic journey without the burden of overwhelming debt."

CCBC offers two Promise Scholarships: the Baltimore County Promise and the Maryland Community College Promise. These scholarships provide a vital lifeline for students facing financial challenges. They cover both tuition and mandatory fees for eligible students, ensuring financial obstacles don't hinder their educational goals.

Recently, these scholarships have become even more accessible. They now welcome full- and part-time students, individuals pursuing degrees, and those seeking workforce certifications. Additionally, the Maryland College Promise is now administered by the individual community colleges, streamlining the application and award process.

"Managing our scholarship resources directly allows us to identify and support qualified students more efficiently," explains CCBC Senior Director of Financial Aid Ginny Zawodny." Our dedicated financial aid team is committed to ensuring more students have the opportunity to attend CCBC tuition-free."

Removing financial barriers for students to pursue higher education remains a top priority for CCBC. That commitment, along with College Promise scholarships and a combination of financial aid, has allowed 85% of CCBC students to attend tuition-free.
